Foster Care Support: Educational Stability & Resources

We are committed to supporting students in foster care by ensuring stability, continuity, and access to the resources they need to succeedโ€”both academically and personally.

๐Ÿ’ก Is your student in foster care?

If your student is currently in foster care or has recently entered foster placement, please contact our team so we can ensure the appropriate supports are in place.

What is Foster Care?

Foster care is a temporary service provided by the state for children who are unable to live with their families.

Students in foster care may be placed in:

  • Foster homes

  • Kinship care (with relatives)

  • Group homes or residential care facilities

Who May Qualify?

Students may qualify for foster care support if they are:

  • Placed in foster care through a child welfare agency

  • Living in kinship care arrangements

  • Experiencing a placement change through the foster care system

Educational Rights of Students in Foster Care

Students in foster care are protected under federal and state law, including the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS) 388E.105.

Students have the right to:

  • School Stability: Remain in their school of origin when it is in their best interest

  • Immediate Enrollment: Enroll in a new school without delay, even without required documents

  • Transportation: Receive transportation support to maintain school stability
