2021-2022 Back to School Letter from the Superintendent

July 21, 2021
Hello Delta family.
As the start of the new school year approaches, I wanted to give you a preview of the 2021-2022 school year. The COVID pandemic has created numerous challenges, difficulties and losses. I think we are on the road to recovery, but the process will take time and it will present its own problems. Our priorities at Delta are health, safety and the education of their children. To this end, we are implementing a new model of instruction. Students who wish to return to school for instruction they can do it in person. The school will be in session from 8:00 am to 3:08 pm on Mondays, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. There will be no classroom instruction for students on Wednesdays. However, students are expected to complete their course work online by Wednesdays and teachers will have open office hours through Zoom that day.
Students who prefer to stay online next year will be able to do so. Delta has various options for live / synchronous teacher instruction as well as for the asynchronous learning. During the time teachers are on campus providing in-person instruction to students, online students can access classes Live to watch the lecture, ask questions, and interact with other students. If the Online students are unable to attend classes live via Zoom, recordings are published so that students can view the lecture at a time that suits their schedule. In addition to those opportunities, Delta's computer lab is open from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Online students are encouraged to come to campus at least once a week during those days / times to receive support in person.
Flexible instructional models at Delta Academy allow you to choose the one that best suits adapt to your child's educational and social / emotional needs. Contact us if you have any questions or concerns. For the safety of our community, I highly recommend that you and your children are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. That said, no vaccinations will be required for the year school 2021-2022. As I write this, the County Commission and the Governor's Office they are considering reinstalling the command to use masks. I hope they allow schools that put up their own police masks. If that is the case, the students and employees who they are already vaccinated they will not have to wear a mask. Those who are not, will be required to use one.
Please stay safe and enjoy the rest of your summer. School starts on 9 August and we look forward to a wonderful and exciting year.
